The steps to becoming a biotechnology engineer

1. Applicant must have Chemistry, Maths, Biology in their class 12th science stream.

After completing the Class 12 board exam, students may pursue a BTech degree in biotechnology directly, or students can opt for a BSC honors degree in chemistry, microbiology, zoology, etc.

2. After completing BTech or BSc, most of the students choose post-graduation like MTech or MSc in the biotechnology field to gain more weightage about the subject.

3. Many colleges offer specialization in cellular biology, plant pathology, and genetics.

Students must be aware of the specialization paper to move forward with their desired field of research.

4. After completing post-graduation, many students go for Ph.D. degrees to be in the research field.

Many students do Ph.D. programs to teach in colleges. This Ph.D. degree opens many doors in terms of a career as a biotech engineer.  

They can also work in a leading position in the industrial sector.

The contribution of the Biotech field 

1. The most expensive drug, named Zolgensma is the fruit of biotech engineer’s hard work. This drug has the power of curing spinal muscular atrophy.

2. DNA sequencing and cloning is another remarkable discovery of a Biotech researcher. Heat and energy can be produced from biofuels.

3. Bioplastics are used in food packaging systems, sunglasses, pens, and many more essential products.
