Higher Order Thinking | Eduauraa Blog

Higher Order Thinking

Higher order thinking involves a level of thinking that takes place in memorizing information or mimicking somebody.

Rote memory is noticed when a person replies to a piece of information without hesitation to reflect on it.

The rote memory function resembles a robot that acts out according to its programming rather than thinking out.

HOT or higher-order thinking upgrades thinking to improved levels instead of restating the facts.

Higher order thinking or HOT implies action with the obtained facts.

These truths need to be understood, inferred, connected, stratified, altered, and applied to offer new answers to the latest issues.

The HOT requires some additional cues like the ones which are mentioned below –

1. Conceptions

2. Schemas

3. Analogies, similes, and metaphors

4. Visualization

5. Inference

6. Problem Solving

7. Idea Development

8. Brainstorming

9. Critical Thinking

10. Creativity

11. Successful Intelligence

12. Metacognition

13. Wisdom teaching

Details of HOT
