Informal letter and its format

Informal letter

There are two types of letters in the English language: formal and informal letters.

There is a big difference between informal and formal letters.

An informal letter is written to our close relatives, family, friends, neighbors, etc.

An informal letter is not written for official work prospects.

On the other hand, a formal letter, as its name suggests, is written for official work.

A formal letter is written to the newspaper editor, your school, college, government official, etc.

Format wise also there is a differentiation between formal and informal letters.

Format-:

1. The address of the sender

First of all, you have to write the sender's address.

This is to be written on the left-hand side of the page.

You can add the word dear in informal letters to greet your friends, family, etc.

Otherwise, it's not compulsory.

The address should be in proper sequence and correct.

2. Date -:

The date should be correctly mentioned on the day you are writing the letter.

The date is an important part of an informal letter.

3. The receiver address

The receiver's address is also a very important part of an informal letter.

It also has to be written on the left side of the paper.

The receiver could be your family member or your friend etc.

4. The salutations

You can add salutations according to your bond with that person like dear, lovable, respectable, etc.

These are greetings that are necessary to show your love to the receiver.

These salutations make your letter attractive.

5. Letter body

After the salutations, the next thing is to write the body of the letter. It is an important part of the informal letter.

It includes all the main information about the letter and the subject.

You should be very careful about the body as this is the most focused content to the receiver to avoid grammatical mistakes and bad handwriting.

6. Conclusion

At last, you have to conclude your letter by giving a summary.

You can warmly invite the receiver to the end. In the main body, you will be telling the subject in detail so you can conclude that in 1 or 2 lines.

This is also an essential part of an informal letter.

7. Signature

In the end, you can add your name or sign the letter.

You can add salutations above your name like take care, best of luck, with love or see you soon, etc., to show your love towards the receiver.

These all are parts of an informal letter that makes it attractive, we all have learned and written informal letters in school.

The most common letter subject is -:

- invitation to birthday parties
