Chapter 01: Solid State

This chapter of the chemistry syllabus deals with the categorization of solids depending on the binding forces ionic forces include ionic, molecular, covalent or metal, crystalline, and amorphous solids. Here students get to learn about the unit cell in three-dimensional and two-dimensional lattices.

Chapter 02: Solutions

This is one of the most important chapters of the class 12 chemistry syllabus that discuss different types of solutions, the concentration of solutions, solubility of gases, and more. The most important concepts of this chapter include colligative properties, Raoult's law, depression of freezing point, osmotic pressure, and calculation of molecular masses.

Chapter 03: Electrochemistry

The Chapter of the 12th Chemistry syllabus on Electrochemistry is a continuation of the topics discussed in Class 11. It includes concepts of EMF of a cell, redox reaction, Nernst equation, standard electrode potential, the relation between Gibbs energy change and EMF of a cell, electrolytic conductance, etc.

Chapter 04: Chemical Kinetics

This chapter of the Chemistry Syllabus Class 12 comprised topics like factors affecting the rate of reaction, integrated rate equation and half-life equations, temperature, order and molecularity of a reaction, and concentration. A good number of questions in the Class 12 Board examination come from this chapter.

Chapter 05: Surface Chemistry

The chapter on surface chemistry deals with a topic like physisorption, chemisorption, absorption, absorption of gases on solids, colloidal state, etc. Here students learn about suspension and colloids, different categorizations of colloids, properties of colloids, Brownian movement, Tyndall effect coagulation, and electrophoresis.

Chapter 06: Hydrogen

Hydrogen's place in the periodic table, isotopes, hydrides (ionic, covalent, and interstitial), water's physical and chemical properties, and hydrogen as a fuel are explained in detail in this chapter of Class 12 Chemistry.

Chapter 07 : P Block Elements

The chapter on p block elements discusses group 15 elements and their properties. In the beginning, students learn about the general introduction, occurrence, electronic configuration, oxidation states, trends in physical and chemical properties, compounds of nitrogen, properties of ammonia, properties of nitric acid, preparation, and uses of nitrogen.

Chapter 08 : D and F Block Elements

This chapter of Class 12 Chemistry chapters deals with the general introduction of block d and f elements, along with occurrence in characteristic, electronic configuration, general trends in properties, transition metals, ionization enthalpy, oxidation states, color, catalytic property, interstitial compound, alloy formation, and magnetic properties.

Lanthanoids

Oxidation states, the effect of lanthanide contraction, and electronic configuration.

Chapter 09: Coordination Compounds

A coordination compound refers to a class of chemical compounds that contain an array of neutral molecules or anions. These molecules are attached to a central atom with coordinates covalent bonds. In this chapter of the Class 12th Chemistry syllabus, students get to learn about the properties of coordination compounds, IUPAC nomenclature, Werner's theory, bonding, CFT, and VBT.

Chapter 10: Haloalkanes and Haloarenes

Haloarenes and haloalkanes are a type of hydrocarbons in which more than one hydrogen atom is replaced by a halogen atom. The most distinctive feature of haloalkanes is that they are obtained from open-chain hydrocarbons. Haloarenes are a derivation of aromatic hydrocarbons.

Chapter 11: Phenols, Alcohols, and Ethers

This chapter of the Class 12 CBSE Chemistry syllabus deals with compounds like alcohol, phenol, and ether all these are classified as organic compounds. Alcohol forms due to bonding between the saturated carbon atoms with the hydroxyl group. Similarly, phenol is formed when a hydrogen atom of a benzene molecule replaces the OH group. Here the student learns about physical and chemical properties, nomenclature, methods of preparation, and uses.

Chapter 12: Aldehyde, Ketones, and Carboxylic Acids

Aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and ketones are categorized as carbon and compound that contains a double bond of carbon and oxygen. These compounds are essential for industrial applications. The presence of a similar carbonic group in two different classes of the compound is responsible for showing similar chemical characteristics. Decide aldehydes are more reactive than ketones due to the presence of hydrogen atoms. This chapter of the syllabus of Chemistry Class 12 deals with the nomenclature, uses preparation, physical and chemical properties, and identification of these compounds.

Chapter 13: Amines

Amines are referred to as a functional group with nitrogen atoms in the lone pair. The structural bonding of ammonia represents a nitrogen bond with three hydrogen atoms. Some of its characteristics are also influenced by carbon connectivity. This chapter of the CBSE 12th Chemistry syllabus discusses in detail the classification, nomenclature, structure, physical and chemical property, and the preparation method of different types of amines.

Chapter 14: Biomolecules

Activities of living organisms result in the production of certain organic compounds that are commonly known as biomolecules. Biomolecules include compounds like carbohydrates, amino acids, and nucleic acids. In this chapter of the CBSE 12 chemistry syllabus, students study the classification of different types of carbohydrates, the classification of different varieties of proteins, their structure, denaturation of protein, and their uses. It also contains a detailed idea about nucleic acids like RNA and DNA.
